Printware and Promotion Show 2019

We were once again pleased to exhibit at this year’s Printwear & Promotion show held at the NEC in January. It is always nice to meet customers, old and new, and to take the opportunity to show them our extensive range of quality embroidery threads and accessories. We think it is particularly important to demonstrate the threads in action and so we are grateful that our embroidery machine partners, Barudan UK, provided us with one of their four head machines for this purpose. Having a large machine such as this allowed us to embroider very detailed designs in both Kingstar polyester and our Royal rayon range. We had a huge amount of interest in our Kingstar metallic range and visitors were able to see these threads being used at 1,000 stitches per minute with no breaks.

The show was very busy for us with over 250 visitors over the 3 days. Our team will be following up the leads generated and directing people to the online shop which is a very convenient way to purchase our embroidery products.

Somac Acquires Holrose Threads and Sylkay Textiles Ltd

Somac Threads Ltd is delighted to announce the purchase of Holrose Threads and Sylkay Textiles Ltd, formerly based in Golborne, Warrington.

Holrose and Sylkay were well established companies serving the UK market with product ranges which differed from those traditionally served by Somac Threads. These products include the Vanguard spun polyester range, industrial and sewing monofilament and high quality viscose yarn including the world renowned ENKA viscose. Somac are now the sole authorised UK distributor for ENKA viscose.  Other products now available include flat rubber elastic and piping cord.  The acquisition therefore vastly increases Somac’s range of industrial sewing threads available to our customers.

We are also delighted to welcome Tim Rowling and Jo Maltby to the Chester office to continue to support Holrose and Sylkay customers.
